General information

Slaughterhouses and meat processing plants produce wastewater which is characterized by a high fat content, many solids as well as high COD and nitrogen levels. These introduced loads result in high volumes of floatation and sewage sludge in conventional wastewater treatment plants as well as a high energy demand.

Do you know this problem? Then we have the perfect solution for you.

The unique FlexBio wastewater treatment transforms the fats and COD loads into energy-rich biogas. This technique significantly reduces the flow of material and you are not required to bear the high costs for the disposal of floating fats. In addition, you will be producing up to 20% of the total energy requirements of your plant directly from the wastewater.

We offer solutions for direct introduction and indirect introduction to the adjacent sewage treatment plant. Our effective cleaning technology prevents any heavy pollution charges or other surcharges on the wastewater levy.

We will be happy to answer any further questions in our FAQ!

Technology

3D- Model of FlexBio waste water treatment plant

The FlexBio wastewater technology efficiently and cost-effectively purifies wastewater from meat processing plants and slaughterhouses. Whether you are slaughtering chickens, pigs or cattle, or processing them, the wastewater treatment system will fulfill its job at the highest level. The raw sewage is first put through a separator/drum sieve to separate any substances that might interfere with the process. Then the wastewater is stored in a storage tank and homogenized. In this first stage, the hydrolysis (pre-digestion of the cells) takes place. Subsequently, the wastewater enters the main purification stage of the plant: the high-performance fermenter. Here the fats and organic compounds are converted into biogas by means of the biological process of methanogenesis. In this stage, more than 90% of the organic loads are already degraded. No material flows are created that will need to be disposed of. The pre-purified wastewater is treated aerobically in the downstream second treatment stage. In this stage, the remaining impurities are removed from the wastewater. Depending on the nature of the wastewater, the addition of precipitation and pH buffers is possible downstream. The addition takes place in small quantities compared to conventional wastewater treatment plants, since a large part of all impurities are already biologically removed. The fats and other organic matter are already degraded in the high-performance fermenter and thus cannot be converted into sludge in the aerobic system. This means less excess sludge and at the same time the energy required for ventilation is drastically reduced.

The biogas produced can be used as energy in a CHP or in a boiler and provide sustainable energy for your business. If necessary, the biogas can also be used for the production of compressed air or cooling.

The system is designed for fluctuating loads. Even strong shock loads are buffered and do not affect the flow values. The flow values can be determined individually and permanently guaranteed by the intelligent process management. Regardless of whether you are discharging indirectly and are only required to comply with a COD limit, or whether you need to adhere to certain values of COD, BOD5, nitrogen total, nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, phosphates, lipophilic substances, etc. as a direct discharger, the system always offers the right solution.
